Joseph S. Ireland, 51, husband of Ollie Coppage Ireland, died at his home near Leeslick, Harrison County, KY on Thursday, August 18, 1927 from acute nephritis after a two-day illness. Mr. Ireland was a farmer.
Mr. Ireland was born Jan 20, 1876 in Owen County. He was the son of Asa William 'A. W.' Ireland and Mary Frances 'Frankie' Hughes Ireland.
Mr. Ireland and his wife, Ollie, were married February 10, 1897 in Harrison County, KY.
He was survived by his wife, a son Joe Tolbert Ireland of Cincinnati, Ohio, and a daughter, Miss Margaret F. Ireland, as well as siblings, John Robert Ireland, Hendrix Ireland, Mrs. Stella Ireland Forsythe (Fred), and Mrs. Allie Ireland Haley (Charles).
Mr. Ireland was predeceased by an infant son of one month and 7 days of age in 1898. This infant, who was born December 27, 1897 at Leesburg in Harrison Co., Kentucky, died February 3, 1898 according to the records of Whaley Funeral Home as they appear on the Consolidated Funeral Home Records Index of Harrison County Kentucky website. The cemetery of burial is indicated as Logan. According to the notes of Charline C. Wilson, Cynthiana, KY on file in the Harrison County Public Library, the Logan Cemetery is on the farm of Willard Conner at the corner of Leeslick and Finnell Road in Harrison County. Ms. Wilson visited that farm and did not locate a marker. Mr. Conner told Ms. Wilson that his son had seen a marker with an Ireland infant mentioned. Mr. Conner also said that an "Ireland" had owned the farm across the road in front of his (Mr. Conner) home).
Joseph S. Ireland was also predeceased by three brothers; Wesley Ireland, Cleveline Ireland and George William Ireland.
Mr. Ireland also raised, John Wesley 'Johnnie' Ireland (Edith), the son of his brother, Wesley Ireland who died in 1911.
Mr. Joseph Ireland was a member of the Connersville Christian Church.
Funeral services were held at Leesburg Christian Church on Saturday, August 20, 1927. The pallbearers were Dr. H. C. Blunt, Dr. R. D. Wood, Charles B. Carroll, L. C. McLoney, Rolla VanHook, and J. Kirtley Ammerman.
