The funeral for Harry M. Johnson Jr., 69, of 735 S. Locust St., Pontiac, was held at the First Presbyterian Church, Pontiac, with the Rev. William H. Beswick officiating. Burial was in South Side Cemetery, Pontiac.
He died at 2:48 p.m. Thursday (June 7, 2001) at his residence.
Harry was the youngest of four boys born to Harry M. Johnson Sr. and Elva Luella Mott. He was born July 2, 1931. He married Cleta Laverne Burton on Jan. 26, 1951, at Pontiac. She died Oct. 15, 1996.
Two brothers preceded him in death.
Mr. Johnson was educated in Pontiac schools and graduated from Pontiac Township High School in 1949. He was employed at Johnson Press for 25 years, retiring in 1997. He worked long, hard hours at his employment and had little time for rest or hobbies.
Being too young, Harry or "Junior" as he was called, was at home with his parents while his brothers served in World War II. He had a pet dog named Midge, loved flying model airplanes, and riding motorcycles. He was much loved and left this world too soon.
