Chester was the second of six children. Early in his career he worked for the Lehigh Valley Railroad. Then from 1931-1960 he worked for Easton Glass Works in Easton, Northampton County, Pennsylvania, where he served as a manager before his retirement. He married Edith Mae Peters after the War.
