Noted for playing criminals, western figures, cops, and mobster type roles, he also appeared in several other films including, "Odds Against Tomorrow" (1959), "The Getaway" (1972), "Pat Garrett & Billy The Kid" (1973), "Rancho Deluxe" (1975), "Two Of A Kind" (1983), "Once Upon A Time In America" (1984), "The Ref" (1994), "Joe The King" and "Trigger Happy" (2001), among several others. He also appeared on many television programs including, "100 Centre Street," "Third Watch," "Oz," "The Sopranos," "Jake And The Fatman," "The Jury," "The Equalizer," "Hill Street Blues," "Law & Order," and "Law And Order: Special Victims Unit." He was also a talented stage actor.
