RICHARD S. BARRETT, 103, of Memphis, retired personnel director for The Peabody after 57 years, died Sunday of heart failure at Methodist Hospital. Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Memorial Park Funeral Home with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery. A World War I veteran, he was a member of Union Avenue United Methodist Church, Park Avenue Masonic Lodge and the Lewis Senior Citizens Center. Mr. Barrett, the husband of Katherine W. Barrett, also leaves two daughters, Sarah Cave of Memphis and Edythe Wheeler of Fort Myers, Fla.; three sisters, Mamie May, Louise Faulk and Mary Gober, all of Canton, Miss., four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren. The family requests that any memorials be sent to Union Avenue United Methodist Church. (Published in The Commercial Appeal 5/16/1994)
