Helen Mildred Cannon Hayden was born: April 4, 1907 in Holdredge, Nebraska to Adam B. Cannon and Emma C. Christensen. She had an older sister Bernice and a younger brother Earl, both deceased. She passed away Monday January 5, 2009 at Northern Colorado Medical Center after a prolonged illness.
The family homesteaded near Willard Colorado and later moved to Loveland where Helen finished school.
She married Ramon G. Hayden on April 26, 1931 in Loveland. They lived in several other places briefly, but mostly Drake, CO where they had a saddle livery and tourist cabins until 1942 when they moved to Johnstown, CO. Raymon became principal of Johnstown Elementary school. Summers were still spent at Drake where they continued with the saddle horses, tourist cabins and for several years had a summer camp for children, many of whom returned for each of those years. They moved to Ft. Collins about 1966 where Raymon was again principal of 2 Elementary Schools. Upon retirement in 1973, they returned to Johnstown where Helen still lived with her son Keith (Chip).
Helen has been an accomplished artist. Her work was mostly with China painting, which she continued as long as her eyesight permitted. Knitting, crocheting and tatting were among her other hobbies.
A long time member of the Johnstown United Methodist Church, she also was active as long as her health permitted in the Johnstown Women's Club, the Johnstown Garden club, several bridge groups and other Johnstown civic activities.
Preceded in death by her husband Raymon and her son James, Helen is survived by and will be greatly missed by her son Keith Hayden of Johnstown, daughter Sally (Cecil) McGlothlen of Wheat Ridge, daughter-in-law Mary Ann Hayden of Longmont, 7 grandchildren Michael Hayden (Laura) of Hudson, Clay Hayden of Platteville, Brady Hayden (Linda) of Eaton, Scott Hayden (Shelly) of Johnstown, Cecil R McGlothlen of Estes Park, Julie (Mike) Koffman of Lakewood, Cindy (Brian) Fellows of Broomfield. There are 18 great grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren with 2 more on the way.
Services will be Monday at 10:00 AM at the United Methodist Church of Johnstown with interment to follow at Loveland Burial Park. Viewing will be from 2 to 4 PM Sunday at Kibbey-Fishburn Funeral Home and from 9 to 10 Monday at the church.
