Mrs. Bamlet, of rural Stewartville, died Tuesday (Jan. 29, 2008) at her home, of natural causes following a lengthy illness.
Ardella Joyce Eunice Patchin was born May 19, 1925, in Byron. She grew up on the family farm in Pleasant Valley Township, Mower County, and moved with her family to Hadley Valley, north of Rochester. She attended rural schools and Rochester High School, and later in her adult years earned her G.E.D.
She married Carl Leo Bamlet on Nov. 22, 1946, at Bethel Lutheran Church in Rochester. The couple moved to Bamlet's Corner in rural Stewartville, where they farmed; Mrs. Bamlet had resided there up to the present. Mr. Bamlet died May 16, 1982. She was employed at Libbys, Libbys and McNeil Co., and Seneca Foods for 35 years until her retirement in 1993. She was a longtime member of Bethel Lutheran Church and was active in its Ladies circles. She enjoyed playing bingo and cards, crocheting and knitting, traveling, and especially caring and cooking for all of her granchildren.
Survivors include three daughters, Marian (Jack) Maxwell, Margie Bamlet and Nancy (Jerry) Knutson, all of Stewartville; three sons, Wayne (Kathy) of High Forest, Gene (Mary) of Hayfield and Mark (Jeanna) of Stewartville; 15 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jean Ellen (Lyle) Bemmert of Rochester and Carol (Frank Yeadon) of Stewartville; and two brothers, Burton Patchin and Vern Patchin, both of Rochester. Other survivors include a daughter-in-law, Donna Bamlet of Stewartville; and two sisters-in-law, Florence Yeadon and Lola Wendt, both of rural Stewartville. She was preceded in death by her husband and a son, Rick.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at Griffin-Gray Funeral Home in Stewartville, and an hour before the service Saturday at the church in Rochester.
