LOIS MARIE GRUVER
Lois Marie Gruver, 64, died Tuesday, December 6, in Salem.
She was born and raised in Hillsboro and lived in Oregon all her life. She graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1942. She continued her education by attending Good Samaritan Nursing School in Portland, and graduated as a registered nurse in 1946. She met her husband, Fred, and was married in 1947. They lived in Salem while he attended college and she worked as a nurse in a doctors office. After his graduation, they returned to Portland, where they lived 11 years in the Parkrose district. While there, they had three children, a daughter, Louise, and two sons, Richard and Douglas. During this time she also continued her nursing. The moved to Sutherlin in 1962, where she was a staff nurse for the Roseburg Hospital for two years. The family's final move was to Mill City, where they have lived for 24 years. She nursed at Santiam Memorial Hospital for 20 years, until her retirement in 1985.
Survivors include her husband of 41 years, Fred, of Mill City; daughter, Louise, of Dallesport, WA.; sons, Richard of Pacific City, and Douglas of Gates; mother Alma, of Portland; and sister Carol, of Everett, WA.
Memorial services were held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 10th, at the Mill City Presbyterian Church. Private interment was at Fairview Cemetery, Gates.
