Nestled in the Northeast corner of Washington State not far from Lake Rosevelt and the sleepy town of Hunters Washington you will find a little piece of heaven known as Hungry Hollow Ranch Home to Fred and Marion Guenther. My Uncle Fred was a tremendous man who lived on the same land from his birth till his death.
Born to Henry Jacob and Emma Edith (Krell) Guenther, He was born, raised and lived his entire life in the same family homestead that has been in the guenther family for over 100 years. As a child I always looked forward to going to the farm to climb the tall bundles of hay that were stacked so neatly in the red barn. I would even enjoy taking a nap in the hay on a lazy summers day. Ridding the horses was a way to get some good fresh air into your lungs as well. I would get to ride along on the combine in the alfalfa fields during harvest as he would always give me salt water taffy everytime I rode with him. But the best thing that I personally remember about my uncle Fred was being woken up at 4:30 in the morning to help milk the cows only to take delight in taking the pails of warm fresh milk into the basement of the house to watch my uncle work his magic in seperating the cream from the milk so I can have fresh cream on my cereal for breakfast that morning. So much could be said about this great man I would need to write a small book.
My uncle loved life, loved family, loved his beautiful wife for 70 years and took pleaseure in a good sweat upon his brow from a hard days work on the farm. You would have truly enjoyed this dear mans company and stories.
Survirors are: Wife of 70 years, Marion, Daughters, Joan, Linda and son Vern. 11 Grandchildren and 18 Great grandchildren. My Uncle passed peacefully in his sleep. You will truly be missed by countless people whose lives you have touched through the years. May you truly take great joy in your heavenly home. * small side note: My uncle for many years was also the gravedigger for the cemetary in which he himself is interned in.
