Birth: Mar. 22, 1861
Greene County
Indiana, USA
Death: Dec. 5, 1947
Minneapolis

Religious Leader. Known as "The Grand Old Man of Fundamentalism," he founded the World's Christian Fundamentals Association, and was responsible for William Jennings Bryan involvement in the Scopes "Monkey Trial" in July, 1925. When on his deathbed he chose the young, and then unknown, Billy Graham to be his successor. He fought bitterly to outlaw the teaching of evolution and was considered the foremost fundamentalist of his time. (bio by: Randy Moore)

Evolution is a fact. The fundamentalist legacy has passed into history. Interesting movement, however.
