Cleon B. Alexander, 86, of Lancaster, went Home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, September 22, 2011 at LGH.
Born May 22, 1925 in Mt. Nebo, PA, he was the son of the late Emerson and Anna Laurel (Gochenaur) Alexander. He was married to Jean E. (Dommel) Alexander on June 9, 1946.
Cleon attended Mt. Nebo School and was a Veteran of WWII, proudly serving as a Sergeant with the U.S. Army. After returning from the war, Mr. Alexander worked for Armstrong World Industries in Lancaster for over 44 years, retiring in 1986.
Cleon attended Hempfield United Methodist Church, Lancaster. He enjoyed traveling, working in his yard, NASCAR, the Philadelphia Phillies, playing pinochle and, above all, spending time with his family and friends.
In addition to his wife of over 65 years, he will be lovingly missed by three daughters, Linda Alexander; Carol, wife of Timothy Axe, both of Lancaster, and Kathy, wife of Mark Messelt, of AZ; two grandchildren; five great grandchildren; a daughter-in- law, Elaine Alexander; and a brother, Clay Alexander, of Lancaster. He was preceded in death by a son, Robert Alexander, and 11 siblings.
Funeral Services will be held at the Andrew T. Scheid Funeral Home, 320 Blue Rock Road, Route 999, Millersville, PA, on Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at 11 AM with Pastor Bruce L. Lefever officiating. Interment will be in the Conestoga Memorial Park, Lancaster, PA with Military Honors accorded by the Red Rose Veterans Honor Guard and the Vet 21-Salute Honor Guard. Relatives and Friends are respectfully invited to view at Scheid's on Tuesday between 9 and 11 AM. Kindly omit flowers.
