Clyde R. Freese, 75 of 1528 First St., LaPorte, died Monday, March 15, at 3:30 p.m. at his home following an illness of three months. He was born June 6, 1906 in Marshall County Ind., to Lawrence and Martha (Hay) Freese and had lived here 59 years coming from Starke County. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and had retired from the former US Slicing Machine Co. (Berkel, Inc). On Feb. 25, 1933 he married Agnes Williams who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. David (Jackie) Anderson of South Bend, and Mary Ann of LaPorte; seven grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Thomas (Bernice) Logos of Ft. Ogden, Fla., and Mrs. Tony (Lorraine) Thomas of Grand Rapids, Mich., and one brother, Jesse, of LaPorte. One son, Clyde R. Jr., died in 1952, and four brothers and four sisters preceded him in death. Funeral services will be 11 am Thursday at St. Joseph Church with Msgr. John C. Witte officiating. Friends may call at the Essling Funeral Home from 2-9 p.m. Wednesday, where a wake service will be conducted at 8 p.m. and until the time of services Thursday. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
