His brother Henry, after leasing his brewery plant at Fort Madison, Iowa, joined Casper under the firm name of Henry Koehler & Brother. The partnership was dissolved in 1866 when Casper retired. Mr. Philip Hehner purchased Casper's interest & continued in partnership with Henry under the name of Excelsior Brewery. Casper later took on the position of president of the Columbia Brewing Company along with his son Julius, who assumed the position of general superintendent.
