J. W. (Dub) Hampton
of Wappapello, and formerly of Chaffee, MO. died Sunday November 24 th at the Chaffee General Hospital, following an apparent heart attack, at the age of 58.
He was born February 23, 1927 at Morley to the late Clyde and Ona Hampton.
On August 14, 1956 he married Hazel Schweain who survives.
Hampton had lived in Wappapello since 1971, moving there from Cape Girardeau. He was a retired truck driver for Complete Trucking Co. In St. Louis, MO.
Hampton was a veteran of World War II and at the time of his death, he was Commander of the Veteran of Foreign Wars Post 3416 at Wappapello. He was also a member of American Legion and the AmVets post in Poplar Bluff.
In Addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Jerry Wayne Hampton (from previous marriage to Mary Bernice Jackson of Chaffee) and Jay D. Hampton of Wappappello by Hazel). Two brothers, Lyman Hampton, Burbank, Calif., and Robert Hampton, Sterling, IL., and four grandchildren.
Morgan-Stifford Funeral Home at Puxico was in charge of the services and burial was at Little Brushy Cemetery at Wappapello.

Hwy T south out of Wappapello, Not very far, it sits at the Jct Of Hwy T & RA on the left, Across from the Grocery store / Gas Station. If you get to Hwy KK jct you went to far. go back about a half mile. The cemetery sits in Butler Co. just south of the Wanye Co. line & Wappapello Lake Dam.
