Birth: 1841
Death: May 12, 1864

26th Michigan Company H, Edward Chamberlain of Williamston, Ingham County, had enlisted on October 22, 1863, at the age of 22 and was killed in action at Spotsylvania on May 12, 1864. (His brother-in-law, Sgt. Chauncey Jones Butler, was also mortally wounded). His brother, Corporal George S. Chamberlain enlisted at Locke on August 14, 1862, at the age of 24. George would later have listed in the Ingham County Biographical Sketches the following tribute:

George Chamberlain kept in his possession was his regulation forage cap worn during the Battle of Spotsylvania when it was pierced by a Rebel bullet, the ball just grazing the scalp. George mustered out at Alexandria on June 4, 1865, and died on February 20, 1920, buried in the Rowley Cemetery at Webberville. Orlando and Simeon Chamberlain also served in the 26th Michigan
