RUSHVILLE — Verl E. Clemons, 79, of Rush County, passed away Aug. 13, 2011.

Born June 7, 1932, he was the son of the late Ernest and Volna (Clingman) Clemons. He married Margie Niehoff May 17, 1958; she survives.

Mr. Clemons was an over-the-road trucker and retired from Perkins Furniture Transport. He also had worked for Fraley & Schilling and Harcourt Outlines. A U.S. Air Force veteran, he served from 1951 to 1955 and attained the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was a member of St. Mary Church, the American Legion, the Knights of Columbus, the Milroy Community Club and was a past member of the Milroy Volunteer Fire Department.

Survivors include sons, Gary (Eileen) Clemons of Grantsville, Utah and Kent (Peggy) Clemons of Allen, Texas; daughters, Sharon (Todd) Frank of Brookville and Laura (Rob) Ash of Mays; grandchildren, Christopher, Marcus, Daniel, Douglas, Mitchell and Ryan Clemons, Alicia, Nicholas and Zachary Frank and Katelyn, Kelsi and Kourtney Ash; brother, Harold (Carol) Clemons; and several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary Catholic Church, Rushville with Father Jeremy Gries officiating.

Burial will be in Rushville's Calvary Cemetery.

Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Burns Funeral Home, Milroy. A rosary will be recited at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Memorials may be made to the Milroy Community Club, Milroy Volunteer Fire Department or the charity of the donor's choice.
