Alvin "Dick" Brown, 68, of Prineville, died Dec. 13, 2008. A celebration of life and potluck dinner was held Monday, Dec. 22 at the Carrey Foster Hall in Prineville.
Mr. Brown was born Jan. 14, 1940 in The Dalles to Alvin and Maggie (Jones) Brown. He attended school in Post and graduated from Dayville High School.
He attended two years at Oregon State University in Corvallis before entering the U.S. Army. After his Army tour, he returned to OSU to finish his degree. Following that, he worked for the OSU Extension Service in Corvallis and Prineville.
He then became self-employed as a land use consultant. He left self-employment for a while to work for the Crook County Planning Department and the City of Prineville Planning Department. He then "retired," returning to work as a private land consultant until his death.
His hobbies included hunting, and helping with 4-H and FFA children.
On Oct. 18, 1975, he married "Jeanie" Brock in Prineville.
Survivors include his son, Lance (Marcinda) Brown of Prineville; his sister, Sally Decker of Beaverton; brother, Mike Brown of Powell Butte; father Alvin Brown of Dayville; nieces, Vicki and Lindsey Brown; nephews, Sean, Tanner and Bodie Brown; and grandchildren, Keaton and HadLee Brown.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanie; mother, Maggie; and his uncle, Bob Brown.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to the Shane Brown Memorial Scholarship Fund at any Wells Fargo Bank branch. This fund supports OSU veterinarian students.
