Allen L. Bell, 64, of Church Street, Lenox, died Tuesday at his home.

Born in Helena, Montana on October 22, 1946, the son of Edward and Ethel Buchanan Bell, he was a 1964 graduate of Helena High School, received his BA degree in History from Carroll College in Montana in 1972, and later earned a Masters degree in education.

Mr. Bell was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving from 1964-1968 and for most of that time was stationed in Turkey.

He was employed at the Norman Rockwell Museum in Stockbridge as a Warehouse and Safety manager from 1996 until the time of his death.

During the 1980's and 90's, he worked for the Diocese of Springfield teaching English as a second language to Vietnamese and Cambodian refugee's and also taught at the Adult Learning Center in Pittsfield.

Mr. Bell was an avid reader, studied the American Civil War for most of his life, and was involved with the restoration of Ventfort Hall in Lenox. He also had a special interest in Montana history.

He is survived by three daughters Andrea L. Morse and husband Shannon and Jennifer Renzi, all of Lanesborough, and Alison C. Phair and husband Brendan of Pittsfield; two brothers, James Bell and wife Mary Ann of Missoula, MT, Raymond Bell of Helena, and his sister Catherine Maunu and husband Keith of Kent, WA; seven grandchildren including Cameron Szymanski, Colby Zradi, Devyn Renzi, Brooke, Mayson, and Lexie Morse, and Preston Phair; and his former wife Marita Gazaw Morse of Dalton.

The funeral will be conducted with full military honors accorded at the Roche Funeral Home in Lenox on Friday, September 16, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. by the Rev. Christopher J. Waitekus, Pastor of St. Ann's Church in Lenox.
Burial will be at a later date in Fort Harrison National Cemetery in Helena.
Calling hours at the funeral home will be held on Thursday, September 15, 2011 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
