Quoted from Independent Record, Helena, 04/29/2009: Mickey Gage, 60, of Montana City passed away surrounded by family on Apri1 25, 2009, at St. Peter's Hospital after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Mickey was born Nov. 25, 1948, in Deer Lodge to Ray and Elsie (Conway) Murray. Mickey attended schools in Avon and Deer Lodge. She met her husband, Don (Frog) Gage, in Helena. They were married in July 1968. To that marriage, sons Mike and Joe were born.
After Don's death, she fell in love with her very dear friend, Sandy MacDonald. They spent their short six years together building their dream home, traveling, camping, street rodding and fishing. Their new boat was named "Mouse" and she by far was the better fisherman of the two.
Mickey worked for Blue Cross Blue Shield, Dr. Spurgin, and Dr. Ballwebber and retired as head cashier for Carroll College in 2007.
Mickey loved her animals, Bummer the Fat Cat and Lizzie the Muley Deer.
Mickey was preceded in death by her mother, Elsie; and first husband, Don.
Mouse, you will be missed and your smile forever engrained in our memories.
The family would like to extend a special thank-you to Hospice, the oncology unit and Sandy's sister, Donna, for their special care of Mickey.
Services were conducted April 29 at Hagler-Anderson Mortuary by the Rev. Shelden of St. Peter's Hospital. A gathering was held at the VFW in East Helena following the services.
Memorials may be sent to Lewis & Clark Humane Society, P.O. Box 4455, Helena, MT 59604-4455.
