Known for his opposition to the internment of Japanese-Americans during World War II (one such camp was located in Colorado-the Amache Japanese Internment Camp near the town of Granada), arguing that the civil rights of Japanese-Americans were violated, and that such internment was unconstitutional and inhumane.
