RANDOLPH - Wilbur E. "Buster" Bowen, 73, died May 21, 2002, at Gifford Medical Center in Randolph.He was born May 27, 1928, in Randolph, the son of Arthur and Ella (Manning) Bowen.He graduated from Randolph High School in 1946.Mr. Bowen worked for Rudolf Day at the Day Funeral Home. He was a carpenter with Ken Manning Construction Co., and for more than 30 years was a mail carrier for the Randolph Post Office.He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving during World War II.He was a member of the Randolph Fire Department, serving as fire chief for many years and later as assistant fire chief and captain. He was also a member of American Legion Post 9.He enjoyed the Water Polo State Competition with the Vermont fire departments, bowling, hunting and playing pool.Survivors include a sister, Barbara Osgood of Randolph; nieces and nephews.The funeral service will be held Friday at 1:30 p.m. at the Day Funeral Home in Randolph with the Rev. Ronald Rilling of the Green Mountain Chapel officiating. Burial will be in the Vermont Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Randolph Center.
