Edward William Wolgast, 91, of Gilman, IL., formerly of Danforth, IL., died at 4:35 P. M., Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at the Gilman Health Care Center, Gilman following a lengthy illness. His funeral service will be at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, October 24, 2011 at the Redenius Funeral Home, Gilman with Rev. Pete Hinrich officiating. Burial will be in the Danforth Cemetery, Danforth. Military rites by the Danforth American Legion. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 6:00 P.M. Sunday, October 23, 2011 at Redenius Funeral Home, Gilman. Memorials may be made to the Danforth Historical Society, Danforth American Legion or Donor's Choice. Edward was born on June 12, 1920 in Danforth to Edward L. & Lena (Conrad) Wolgast. His childhood was spent in Danforth. Ed attended Danforth Grade School. He graduated from Gilman High School. Edward married Ida "Mickey" (McBroom) Vadbunker on February 18, 1966 at the Assumption B.V.M. Catholic Church in Ashkum, IL. She died on September 11, 2011. Survivors include his children - Jeannie (Cody) Moore of Decatur, IL., Mary Sparks of Clifton, IL., Larry (Joyce) Vadbunker of Evansville, IN., Edward (Sandy) Vadbunker of Ashkum, Fred Vadbunker of St. Louis, and Rita (Roy) Gray of Gilman. Twenty-six Grandchildren. Forty Great-Grandchildren. Many nieces and nephews. Edward was preceded in death by his parents, wife and son - William Paul Vadbunker. He was a WWII Army Veteran. His memberships included the Danforth American Legion and the Danforth Historical Society. Edward owned and operated Ed's Place in Danforth, retiring in 1985. He enjoyed shuffle board, playing pool, bird watching and spending time with Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren.
