Birth: Jul. 25, 1818
Louisiana, USA
Death: Aug. 3, 1869
San Patricio County
Texas, USA

The grave of John CHOATE is adjacent to that of John Crockett CHOATE.

According to "LEANDER McNELLY AND HIS DEATH SQUAD" by Lee Paul, Jack Helms murdered John and Crockett CHOATE during the Sutton-Taylor Fued.

Miss Elizabeth SMITH married John CHOATE in 1858 in San Patricio County, Texas. I do not know if this marriage was to John Choate (1818-1869) or to his cousin, John Crockett Choate (1841/42 - 1869).

Miss Catherine A. "Kate" DICKEY married John Choate (both of San Patricio Co., Texas) on 15 May 1865 in Refugio County, Texas. I do not know if this marriage was to John Choate (1818-1869) or to his cousin, John Crockett Choate (1841/42 - 1869).
