Edward Dwain Stapp of San Marcos, Texas, beloved and cherished husband, father and grandfather, passed away suddenly on Monday, July 25, 2011, at the age of 67.
He was born on May 7 1944, in Marfa, Texas, the son of Lloyd D. and Veda Ruby (Edwards) Stapp.
Edward was raised in Midland, Texas and moved to Austin, Texas not long after graduating high school to pursue his dream of a career in law enforcement. He served the community as a law enforcement officer during his employment with the San Marcos Police Department, the Hays County Sheriff's office, the Bastrop County Sheriff's office, and the Texas Department of Public Safety. He retired from DPS as a Lieutenant in the Capitol Police division. He went on to work part time as a bailiff with the Hays County Court at Law and soon worked his way back into full time employment and retired as a Captain in the Courts Security department.
Edward's passions outside of law enforcement were family and racing, and he enjoyed both together. He owned and operated a racing hobby that involved both of his sons and good friend, Gunnar Frid for the past 12 years, a legacy that will continue for years to come.
Edward will be dearly missed by his family and his many friends.
He is survived by his wife, Carmel (Vela) Stapp; two sons, Chase Stapp and wife, Teri and Cary Stapp and wife, Kelli; grandchildren, Cole, Kyle and Mikayla Stapp; and step-grandson, Trey Dusek.
