Birth: Aug. 16, 1916
Salt Lake City
Salt Lake County
Utah, USA
Death: Mar. 4, 2004
Sandy

Utah, USA

Oldest child to:

JAMES WILLIAM THOMPSON (Father)

ZELMA SMITH (Mother)

Was an amazing pianist, Beth played piano by ear and could play any song in any key. At the age of 13, she was asked to become an organist for her church where she shared her talent to all who heard her play. During her high school years she played at the gymnasium balcony where there was a piano waiting for her. She graduated from Jordan High School.

After high school Beth found a job as an elevator operator at the Paris Department Store. She would model the store's new clothing lines. Then in her thirties, Beth began work in the Sandy Library as part time help. Later she worked full time for the Salt Lake County Library system where she helped introduce the Book-mobile service, which brought books to outlying neighborhoods. Eventually, she became Sandy's head librarian, until she retired at the age of 62.

Beth married her sweetheart Noal Cushing Batmen on February 21st, 1936 in the LDS Salt Lake Temple. Noal later became the mayor of Sandy, Utah. They had 4 children:
Dennis/ MelRae Brown/ Brenda Biesinger/ & Vaun.

Both Noal & Beth took on a Mormon/LDS mission in 1986. Their Mormon calling was to help establish a new LDS branch at the Sandy Regional Convalescent Center. Normally Mormon missions are for 2 years.... they were required for 2 but they ended up completing their mission in 4 years. Again, Beth used her piano talents during these 4 long years... but it was nice not having to leave the area where she grew up and resided.

Beth was always extremely organized. She kept a beautiful home.. and her cooking was some of the best. She would always answer the phone as: "The Batemen Residence". Very formal and professional in all she did.

She died at the age of 87, in Sandy, Utah.
