Whereas, The Grand Master of the universe has been pleased to remove our worthy Brother Samuel Hodge from our Lodge to the Grand Lodge on High: we bow in humble submission.
Brother Hodge was a worthy upright zealous Mason. although sadly afflicted by disease for a number of years, he never lost his interest in Free Masonry. Many times he came on foot to attend the Lodge meetings and returned to Flagdale.
Resolved, That we will ever cherish his memory and Masonic virtues and that this obituary be entered up our records and that our Lodge Room be draped in mourning for thirty days. He joined our Lodge in 1858. Died Feb. 26, 1900 aged 70 yrs, 4 mo. and 26 da. BA Thomas A. L. Baker Com
Margaret, Clara, Daniel and Joseph Hodge and Mrs Regina Harlow of Columbus attended their father's funeral at Mr. Zwingley Thursday.
Mr Samuel Hodge was born October 6, 1829, died February 27th 1900, aged 70 years, 4 mo, and 26 days. The 70 funeral took place Thursday at Mt. Zwingley conducted by Rev. Robrbrugh and the Masonic order. Mr Hodge leaves a wife, three sons, four daughter, three grandchildren, one brother, one sister, one half brother, two half sisters and a host of friends to mourn his death.
