Joanie Harper was an outstanding and loving mother to her children, son Marques, daughter Lyndsey, and new baby Marshall, and a wonderful daughter to her mother Earnestine Harper. Earlier on the day of her death, Joanie Harper went to church with her mother and children to show off baby Marshall.
Joanie was a former Bakersfield High School basketball star. She had worked as a campus supervisor for the Bakersfield City School District since 1994. She was responsible for campus security and safety but also worked with students and community groups.
All five were victims of mass murder committed by Joanie's estranged husband, and the children's father, Vincent Brothers, who was convicted of murder and sentenced to death.
