WILLIAM H. CRUMP SR.
PALO ALTO, Calif. - William Henry Crump Sr., 75, of Palo Alto, formerly of Livermore, formerly of Mount Savage, Md., died Friday, May 16, 1997, at Veteran's Hospital, Palo Alto.
Mr. Crump was born April 6, 1922, in Mount Savage. He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Mary E. Crump, who died April 11, 1997.
Mr. Crump was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, serving as a fire controlman first class on the destroyers U.S.S. Lamson and the U.S.S. Achernar from 1940 to 1946. He was an electronic technician/senior supervisor in the weapons field test division. He worked at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, Livermore, for 30 years. He graduated from high school in Newark, N.J., and was a member of the U.S.S. Lamson Association and the U.S.S. Achernar Association. He enjoyed fencing, bowling, sports, camping, and a good game of chess.
Surviving are his son, Willliam H. Crump Jr. and wife Katie Crump; brothers Leonard Crump, Linden, N.J., and Doug Heer, Peoria, Ariz.; and three grandsons, Andrew, Nicholas, and Daniel.
Private family services will be held at a later date.
Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetary, Arlington, Va.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to the Veterans' Hospital, Veterans Administration Palo Alto Health Care System, 3801 Miranda Ave., Palo Alto, CA 94304.
