Elias Medley was born in Coshocton county, Ohio, July 4, 1825; departed this life - Feb. 16, 1918, at the Sanduscky Soldiers Home, aged 93 years, 7 months and 16 days.
He was united in marriage to Elizabeth Campnell, of Columbus, Jan. 1, 1864. To this union were born 9 children: 5 daughters and 4 sons. One son died in infancy; 8 are living: Albert, Samuel, William, Martha, Julia, Clara, Ella, Nettie; 34 grandchildren, and 25 great grandchildren. And other relatives.
He was baptized and united with the U.B. church in early manhood and was always on the Lord's side. He came to Paulding county in 1885 and resided two miles east of Hedges. Thirteen years ago he moved to Dupont, until the death of his wife he lived with his children. A few weeks ago he went to the Sandusky home, where he passed away.
He enlisted in the ward of 1861 and served till 1865.
The remains were brought to Kalida on Monday and on Wednesday were laid beside his wife. (Appeared in local paper Mar 7, 1918)
