Jon D. Allen, 60, Mitchell, passed away at 12:34 a.m. Monday, March 29, 2010, at his residence.

Born July 18, 1949, in Bedford, he was the son of Noble Winford "Speck" and Bertha Mary (Mann) Allen. He married Carolyn Marie Jackura April 29, 1978.

Jon retired from Crane Surface Warfare Center. He graduated from Mitchell High School in 1967, and attended Northwood Institute. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, and attended Bride of Christ Fellowship.

He was a U. S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War and a member of American Legion Post No. 250 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9107.

His parents; and sisters, Patricia Louise Leonard, Jan Christie Deckard, and Lana Allen, preceded him in death.

Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 Wednesday, March 31, at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Father Rick Eldred and Bro. Jerry Allen officiating. Burial will be in Hamer Cemetery at Spring Mill State Park with military honors accorded by American Legion Post No. 250 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9107.

Friends may call from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Chastain Funeral Home. A prayer service will be at 7:30 p.m.
