George Thomas Pantazelos, age 49.

Served as President of AHEPA Chapter North Shore #94 from 2001 to 2006.

AHEPA District #13 Lodge Offices: District Marshall 2002-2003; District Secretary 2003-2004; District Lt. Governor 2004-2005. He was elected District Governor on June 11, 2005 and elected to a second term on June 3, 2006. After serving two terms, he was elected AHEPA Supreme Governor of Region #6 on July 14, 2007 at the AHEPA Supreme Convention.

In AHEPA, he rose through the ranks faster than anyone, and became President of the North Shore #94 Chapter within a year! Then he was elected to the District Lodge, he was elected District Governor in 2005 and again in 2006. In July of 2007, he was elected to the Supreme Lodge.

He raised so much money for Scholarships for Greek-American high school and college students.

Under George's leadership, AHEPA District #13 held two very popular and successful fundraisers, "AHEPA Goes Broadway" in 2006, benefiting the Hellenic Museum and Cultural Center, at the Chicago Yacht Club, and "AHEPA Goes Crooning for Cooley's Anemia" in 2007, benefiting Cooley 's Anemia, at the Renaissance Hotel in Oak Brook, IL.

With his relentless fund raising, George was instrumental in AHEPA's efforts to combat the devastating effects of Cooley's Anemia, and bettering the lives of the people living with the disease. He served as Vice Chairman of the National AHEPA Cooley's Anemia Foundation, from 2003 to 2006 and then served as Regional Chairman of the Midwest from 2006 on. In 2005, he engineered a $50,000.00 donation from the National Cooley's Anemia Foundation made to Chicago's Children's Memorial Hospital for T-2 Star Software which measures blood iron counts.

Among George's many accomplishments that are too numerous to list, he was Chairman of the District Bone Marrow Canister Challenge (2003-2005), in which our District raised more money than any other District in the country. He was also Vice Chairman of the Salute to the Churches Fundraiser in 2005 for the Metropolis Youth Camp, which raised over $50,000.00. He also chaired the AHEPA District Dinners "Salute the Governors" in 2004 (benefiting the Hellenic Museum) and the "Salute the AHEPANS" in 2003 (benefiting Cooley's Anemia); and the District Smoker in 2004. As District Governor he established the Outstanding Chapters of the Year and District Membership Contests to give the AHEPA initiative to achieve in their chartable efforts. At the AHEPA National Conventions, he chaired the District Governors Meetings in 2004, 2005, and 2006, and Co-Chair of the Grievance Committee in 2005 and 2006 and attended every AHEPA National Convention since 2001.

George will NEVER be replaced. Not in AHEPA, not in our hearts. I miss you George.
