George Chapman who was taken to the soldiers' home at Grand Island about five weeks ago, died in that institution Saturday. The body was brought here, and the funeral service was held from the Christian church Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. The deceased was born at Gladstone, Ills., November 18, 1873, and had been a resident of Nelson for fifty years. He served in the Spanish-American war. He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Dewey Long, two sisters and two brothers: Mrs. Laura Swartz, Chicago, Mrs. D.H. French, Lincoln, Andrew Chapman residing in Kansas, and Robert Chapman, Nelson.
