He was mustered into the unit as a PRIVATE at Meadville, PA on 26 APR 1861.

Assembled with Company at Camp Cameron on 27 APR 1861.

Arrived at Camp Wilkins, Pittsburgh on 2 MAY 1861.

Mustered into State Service as part of the Ninth Pennsylvania Reserve Corps, Company F on 24 JUN 1861 at Camp Wright by Lieutenant Chandler Hall.

Mustered into federal service at Camp Jackson, Washington, DC on 28 JUL 1861 by Lieutenant John Elwood, 5th U.S. Infantry.

Captured at Second Bull Run on 30 AUG 1862.

Called out of the Battle of the Wilderness on 4 MAY 1864 and sent home.

Mustered out of service with company on 11 MAY 1864 in Pittsburgh by Lieutenant Samuel H. Quail and Captain William Jefferson Moorhead, 17th U.S. Infantry.

He participated in the following campaigns: Dranesville, Mechanicsville, Gaines' Mill, Charles City Crossroads, Malvern Hill (in reserve), Second Bull Run, Gettysburg, Bristoe Station and Mine Run.

Tombstone provided by Gross Brothers, Lee, MA under contract dated 9 JUN 1886.
