Captured at Second Bull Run on 30 AUG 1862.
Called out of the Battle of the Wilderness on 4 MAY 1864 and sent home.
Mustered out of service with company on 11 MAY 1864 in Pittsburgh by Lieutenant Samuel H. Quail and Captain William Jefferson Moorhead, 17th U.S. Infantry.
He participated in the following campaigns: Dranesville, Mechanicsville, Gaines' Mill, Charles City Crossroads, Malvern Hill (in reserve), Second Bull Run, Gettysburg, Bristoe Station and Mine Run.
