On Sept. 11, Arthur Gilbert (Gil) Adams, a 77 year resident of the Arbutus-Halethorpe area, passed away in University of Maryland Hospital after complications from heart surgery.

Born on April 4 1922, he served in the U.S. Army during World War II, then was employed with P.P.G. Brush Division on Frederick Road for over 40 years.

The deceased worshiped at Arbutus Baptist Church as a longtime member.

His devoted wife of 56 years, Edith (Akerberg) Adams survives as well as beloved children Linda Christner and husband Ty, Nancy Shay and husband Jeff, Lisa Bodick and husband Jeff, Kristen Arnold and husband Tommy.

Mr. Adams also leaves behind grandchildren Barbara Falcon, Bethany Henderson, Michael and Kellee Shay, Joshua and Linsay Bodick, Tommy and Kylie Arnold; great-grandson A.J. Falcon; grandsons-in-law Al Falcon and Jimmy Henderson; siblings Margaret Boss, Gladys Gardner, Betty Knecht, John, William and Charles Adams. Donald Adams, another brother, predeceased him.

On Sept. 15, the Rev. Ken Fentress led a service at Liberty Baptist Church, where Mr. Adams more recently worshiped. The Witzke Funeral Home of Catonsville Inc. scheduled visitation hours. Burial followed in Loudon Park Cemetery.

His family and many friends will miss Mr. Adams' smiles, kindness, love of God and country and the happiness he bestowed upon all of them.
