WILEY FORD, W.Va. Don Maurice "Ace" Brakeall, 80, of Wiley Ford, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2009, at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center.

Born July 11, 1929, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Edgar and Mary Brakeall. He was also preceded in death by one son, Dave M. Brakeall in 1980; one sister, Lucy Lizer; and three brothers, James Brakeall, Thomas Brakeall and Willard Brakeall.

Mr. Brakeall graduated from Ridgeley High School and served as a United States Marine during the Korean Conflict. He retired from ABL as a storekeeper, after 32 years of service in 1991. He was a member of Second Baptist Church where he was a deacon and sang in the choir. Don enjoyed hunting and fishing, and following his retirement he enjoyed painting and took classes at the Senior Center. He enjoyed being a member of the Chorus of the Potomac and attending competition in Reston, Va. Don was a member of Queen City Lodge 131 A.F. & A.M. where he served as past Master.

Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Anna Mae (Holler) Brakeall; daughter, Donna Haines and husband Tim, Short Gap; two sons, Dale Brakeall and wife Dana, Cumberland, and Dean Brakeall, Ridgeley; granddaughter, Erica Rae Haines; stepgrandchildren, Nathan Ricewick, Brandi Hartley and Taryn George; stepgreat-grandchildren, Yvette, Malachi, Gabriel and Kyian; two brothers, Charles Brakeall and wife Betty, Cumberland, and the Rev. Benny Brakeall and wife Mary, Short Gap; one sister, Mary Susan Davis and husband Roy, Martinsburg; and numerous nieces and neph-ews.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, scarpellifuneralhomes.com on Saturday from 4 to 8 p.m. The Queen City Lodge will conduct a Masonic service Saturday at 7:30 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Sherrill A. Dillon and the Rev. Benny Brakeall officiating.

Interment will be in Lybarger Cemetery, Madley, Pa.

Pallbearers will be his nephews, Hunter Brakeall, Steve Brakeall, Charlie Brakeall, Rodger Wright, John Mason, Greg Brakeall, John Walker and Scott Stevenson.

Memorial contributions may be made to Second Baptist Church, 1 Grand Ave., Cumberland, MD 21502 in memory of Don Brakeall.

Death leaves a heartache no one can heal. Love leaves a memory no one can steal.
