He is often referenced incorrectly as Martin "Milford" Brakeall; however, family bible records list him as Martin "Milton" Brakeall.
Name spelled as Breakall on his stone and his death certificate, while his wife's name is recorded as Brakeall. It appears that he used both spellings of the name.
Second child of John C. Brakeall and Lucinda Myers.
Married Ida Samantha Staley on August 10, 1882 in Richland County, Ohio. The couple was related through their mothers -- both of whom were named Myers. It is thought that Martin and Ida were second cousins.
He had three children:
An illegitimate son born prior to his marriage: Ross Milton Covalt.
John Alva Brakeall
Marie Staley Brakeall - who was actually his wife's niece and was raised by the family. Following Martin's death, Ida legally adopted Marie as a daughter.
Martin was a contractor by trade.
