John Earl Gooding
Birth: Feb. 20, 1904
Daviess County
Missouri, USA
Death: Oct. 27, 1982
Los Angeles County
California, USA

John Earl Gooding was a loyal son who stayed on the family farm and helped his widowed mother Laura Hendricks Gooding farm. He lost his hearing as a child due to a high fever and he never married. When he was too elderly to farm he sold the farm which had been in the family over 100 years and moved near his sister to warmer Yucaipa, California. There he made furniture for his family members and handcarved farm momentoes like oxen pulling carts.

You were a wonderful uncle to me. You taught this city girl how to drive a tractor and I will always miss you. You carved up a storm and made all our family members furniture I shall always treasure. Thank you.
