Born in village of Paavola, Siikajoki, Finland
Nikolai/Nick came to Minnesota in 1907 and was a naturalized US citizen who married Elizabeth Laulumaa and later went back to Finland 29OCT1931 during the Great Depression to have job income from helping to build roads; he was a mechanic at a sawmill.
Killed ~ along with thousands in the years 1936-38 ~ by Soviet Secret Police on Stalin's orders in Sandarmoh Woods near the town of Medvezhjegorsk, Karelia.
After 60 years of only rumors, graves were able to be found in 1997 after break-up of USSR. Story here:
