Son of Mr. Russell Battaglia.

Joseph served as a Signalman, First Class, U.S.S. Juneau (CL-52), U.S. Navy during World War II.

He resided Buffalo, Erie County, New York prior to the war.

Joseph was declared "Missing In Action" when the Juneau was sunk during the Naval Battle of Guadalcanal. He was awarded a Purple Heart.

In memory of all those gallant men of the USS Juneau (CL-52) who made the ultimate sacrifice to win the Battle of Guadalcanal and will be "forever on station" with their ship. God bless you for fighting for free men everywhere
