Hazel S. Beaty, age 80, of Abilene (formerly of Coleman County) died Saturday, December 14, 2002 at an Abilene medical center. Hazel was born December 24, 1921 to John and Maggie McClellan Skelton in Coleman County, Texas. She attended Coleman and Mozelle schools and business college in Fort Worth. Hazel married Richard H. Beaty in Hope, Arkansas on November 15, 1949. They moved from Fort Worth, Texas to Abilene in 1951. Hazel was a housewife and belonged to Crescent Heights Baptist Church. She volunteered for many years with the Hendrick Auxiliary.
Hazel was preceded in death by her parents, her husband (1982), and a granddaughter, Mindy Langston (1984).
Survivors include daughters Carol Corley and husband, Vic, of Abilene and Linda Langston, of Abilene; two grandsons, Clay Corley and Cade Corley, both of Abilene; four granddaughters, Lindsay Langston, Megan Langston, Jordan Langston and Calli Corley, all of Abilene.
Graveside services will be 3:00 p. m. today (Tuesday) in Elmwood Memorial Park with Dr. Phil Christopher officiating, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory, Abilene.
