She was the ninth of eleven children born to Martha Jane (Womack) and Willam Sullivan. When her sister Theona (known as Ona) died, Rhina married her widower to help care for the nine children who still needed raising. Rhina Elizabeth Burton, age 95, of Milton Heights Road in Russell Springs, died Wednesday, June 10, 1992 at her residence.

She was born in Russell County on August 22, 1896 to the late Martha Jane Womack Sullivan and William Sullivan. Her husband, William Howard Burton, also preceded her in death.

Survivors include six sons, William, Kenneth, Velmer, Virgil, Leslie and Dewey Burton, all of Russell Springs; one daughter, Ruby Acree, also of Russell Springs. Nineteen grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren also survive.

She was a member of the Bethlehem Separate Baptist Church.

Funeral services were held Sunday, June 14, 1992, at 2:00 p.m. at the Bernard Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Terry Sullivan officiating.

Special music was provided by Mavis Johnson, Emma Lou Bryant, and Bobby Bryant.

Pallbearers were: Jimmy Acree, Jeffrey Acree, Larry Burton, Phillip Burton, Mack Burton, and Kermit Burton.

Interment was in the Bethlehem Cemetery.
