FUNERAL RITES FOR MRS. MARCHINEK AT KETTLE FALLS
Funeral services for Mrs. John P. Marchinek of Kettle Falls, Wa., the former Margaret Rowlee, daughter of Mr. and Mrs L.G. Rowlee, were held Monday, March 7 from the Kettle Falls Baptist church with the Rev. Wendall Harder and Rebekah Lodge members officiating, and the Girl Scouts of the community in a body as honorary pallbearers.
Mrs. Marchinek was fatally burned Thursday, March 3, in her home, when stumbling before the fireplace, she fell and was knocked unconsicious, suffering severe burns before regaining consciousness enough to put out the flames and carry her children to safety. She was found lying unconscious by her husband, who had been absent only about thirty minutes.
She was taken to the Colville hospital for treatment and received numerous blood transfusions, with many citizens of the Kettle Falls community there to supply it, but failed to respond and passed away Saturday, March 5.
Mrs. Marchinek, who was born and reared in Whitefish and had worked in the relay office here, had lived in Kettle Falls for the past twelve years and had been active in that community in Girl Scout work and was highly regarded there. She is survived by her husband, John and two children, Johnny aged 4 and Jeanie, two months, her parents Mr. and Mrs. L.G. Rowlee, and two sisters, Mrs. Edwin Breeden and Mrs. James Umbriaco, the former Eleanor and Phyllis Rowlee, both of Denver, Colo.
