Mrs. Eirma Voohrhees Succumbs
CLAYTON -- Mrs. Eirma Littlefield Voohrhees, 61, of 205 Dock St., Schuylkill Haven, Pa., formerly of Clayton, widow of Charles Voohrhees, died Wednesday of leukemia in a Philadelphia, Pa., hospital. She had been hospitalized three weeks following a long illness.
A memorial service will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Clayton United Methodist Church. A memorial service has been scheduled at the Schuylkill Haven United Methodist Church, Sunday at 2:30 p.m. There will be no funeral, as Mrs. Voohrhees willed her body to science. Donations may be made to the American Cancer Socity.
Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Everett (Bertha) Martin, Mrs. Harry C. (Ione) LaLonde, both of Watertown; five brothers, William A. Littlefield, Santa Monica, Calif., Erwin R. Littlefield, Palo Alto, Calif., Foster E. Littlefield, Watertown, Harold Littlefield, Clayton Center, Brayton Littlefield, Buffalo, and nieces and nephews.
A brother and a sister predeceased her. Warner Littlefield died in November 1966, and Mrs. Roy (Dora) Bevens died in December, 1969.
Born July 30, 1912, at Clayton Center, daughter of the late Merritt W. and Eleanor Mae Vincent Littlefield, she was educated in Clayton schools and taught in vicinity schools before moving to Detroit, Mich., where she was married to Charles Voohrhees Dec. 16, 1943. The couple moved to Schuylkill Haven about 20 years ago, where Mr. Voohrhees was employed with Aluminum Co. of America. He died in Schuylkill Haven Sept. 31, 1965. Mrs. Voohrhees was employed as a practical nurse at the Pottsville, Pa., Hospital until she was hospitalized.
