Civil War Union Army Soldier. He was mustered in as a recruit Private in Company B, 1st New Jersey Volunteer Cavalry on January 2, 1864. He served until he died of "consumption' (tuberculosis) at Bargaintown, New Jersey, while on furlough from the Lincoln United States Army General Hospital in Washington, DC.
