Company A of Stafford County, 47th Virginia Infantry, Field's Brigade, A.P. Hill's Division, 2nd Corps, Army of Northern Virginia, C.S.A.
Residence Stafford County VA; a 19 year-old Laborer.
Enlisted on 5/21/1861, he was mustered into "A" Co. VA 47th Infantry as a Private.
Absent, sick on Nov & Dec 1861 Roll.
Hospitalized 5/2/1862 - 5/20/1862 for debility in Chimborazo Hospital, Richmond, VA.
Present on all other rolls through 12/31/1864 final Roll.
Postwar, living in Stafford County, on 7/3/1902 at the age of 60, he applied for a Confederate disability pension; approved for $15 per year.
The 47th Infantry Regiment was formed in June, 1861, with men recruited in Caroline, Middlesex, Essex, and Stafford counties. During February, 1865, the 47th and 55th Regiments were consolidated.
