Wounded in (4)head and (5)hand 8/19/1864 Weldon Railroad, VA.
Promoted to 4th Sergt prior to 12/31/1864 final roll.
On 3/12/1906, 73 years old and living with son S.C. Anderson at White's, Caroline County, VA., he applied for admittance into the Robert E. Lee Camp Soldiers' Home, Richmond, VA., due to "Sickness and Genl. bad health". He was approved on 5/10/1906, ordered to report 5/15/1906, and admitted 6/5/1906; died there.
The 47th Infantry Regiment was formed in June, 1861, with men recruited in Caroline, Middlesex, Essex, and Stafford counties. During February, 1865, the 47th and 55th Regiments were consolidated.
