Promoted to Corporal 9/26/1862.
Promoted to Regimental Commissary Sergeant prior to 12/31/1862 rolls.
Present, all Rolls thru 12/31/1864 final Roll.
Paroled 4/9/1865 at Appomattox Court House, VA.
On 6/29/1918, age 76 and living in Montross, Westmoreland County, VA., he applied for admission into the Robert E. Lee Camp Soldiers' Home due to "old age". He was approved; he died there.
The 47th Infantry Regiment was formed in June, 1861, with men recruited in Caroline, Middlesex, Essex, and Stafford counties. During February, 1865, the 47th and 55th Regiments were consolidated.
