Robert was the son of William and Betty (Smith) Grebby. He graduated from Big Foot High School in Walworth, Wisconsin in 1965. In school he was a letterman in football, basketball, and tennis. He was the top tennis player. He was senior class president, prom king his junior year and a member of the forensics club. His tour of duty in Vietnam began October 24, 1969 where he was a member of the 1st Aviation Brigade. He was a helicopter pilot and was killed in action along with Captain William Hodges in Kien Toung. Robert's tour of duty was to end in 20 days. He was going to be married after he came home. He was survived by his parents and a brother Donald.
Robert is honored on the Vietnam Memorial Wall on panel 07W, line 81. He was awarded the Silver Star, Distinquished Flying Cross, the Bronze Star Medal, The Purple Heart, Air Medal and 41 Oak Leaf Clusters.
