|Death: ||Apr. 4, 2013|
Thomas R. Nero D.V.M., 57, of Danbury CT passed away unexpectedly of natural causes on April 4, 2013. A Danbury native, he attended Immaculate High School and graduated from Danbury High School. He graduated from Long Island University, Southampton and Veterinary Medical School at Francisco Balagtas in the Philippines and Animal Medical Center, NYC. Like his father and grandfather before him, Tom was a Danbury business owner, opening the Cat Clinic Feline Health Center in 1993. He loved specializing in feline medicine and was extremely proud of his practice. It was the fulfillment of his dream to build a veterinary hospital around a philosophy of fairness towards his clients and with respect and dignity for his feline patients. He had just completed moving the Cat Clinic to the Germantown Plaza in late February. He was beloved by his staff and clients alike. A musician, pilot, photographer, craftsman, chef, designer, Tom was a true Renaissance man. He played guitar in a variety of blues and rock bands around the area. He enjoyed flying with his wife Betty in his small plane in search of the perfect beach. Tom was also an excellent home chef and even filmed and edited a DVD of traditional family recipes. His love of food extended into kitchen design and we saw his hand in every kitchen renovation of family and friends. He also designed and built the Cat Clinic and his house in Danbury. Although he excelled in all these things and had a passion for learning new skills, he was still extremely generous with his time, selflessly helping others with their projects, renovations and food preparation. Tom will be greatly missed by his wife, Betty Nero; mother, Virginia Nero; brother, Joseph Nero, aunts and uncles, Eleanor and Fred Randazzo, Dorothy Ryan, David Shaker, father-in-law Joseph Komarnicki and his children and grandchildren, 21 first cousins and their children, countless other friends and family and clients whose lives he touched over the years. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Heifer International at www.heifer.org. or to an animal shelter of your choice. The family will receive friends in the Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9-11 Granville Ave., Danbury on Wednesday, April 10, 2013 from 4 PM to 8PM.
