Death: Dec. 10, 2012

Coach Richard D. Davis, 63, of Danbury, CT passed into heaven on December 10, 2012 surrounded by his family. He showed us how to stay positive, strong, courageous and brave during his yearlong battle with pancreatic cancer. He held on to his favorite saying "Fight like a champion" each and every day, helping us to do the same. Born in Lyndonville, VT on June 24, 1949 he graduated from Lyndon Institute, joined the navy, attended Central Connecticut State University and became a CPA. He realized his true passions and joined the wonderful staff at Danbury High School fulfilling his dreams to teach and coach. Football was a love of his from his own high school days to starting his coaching career at Ridgefield High School and continuing on to Danbury High School. His students, athletes and coaches gave him great inspiration, love and support. He is survived by his wife: Sally; daughter: Sarah Kelley, her husband Dan, who became his son and his greatest loves, Madison Elizabeth 8, and Luke Matthew 6. Their daily hugs, kisses and love of life were a tremendous blessing. He was predeceased by his parents: Nylene and Dennis Davis of Lyndonville, VT. He leaves his dear aunt: Beverly Tripp who became his Mom, and her children: Steve Tripp of San Diego, CA, Deanne Robinson of Danville, VT and Lois Tripp of Lyndonville who "loved him to the moon and back."; his sister: Roxanne and her family of Lyndonville, his brothers: Phillip Davis and family of Leimersheim, Germany, Russell Davis and family of Baltimore, MD and Sally's Dad: Walter Croft and family. Also two very special members: Heather Mack and family of Oakville, CT and P.J. Prunty of Danbury who he considered his second daughter and son. We wish to thank Dr. Cohenuram and his team for their wonderful care at Danbury Praxair Cancer Center followed by the care he received by Drs. Herman and Laheru and their teams at John Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Md. The support they gave our family throughout his battle with this difficult disease was constant and never ending. Our friends and family near and far are our greatest treasure and blessings. They helped us daily with their love and support and we are so very grateful to each of them. Friends and family will be welcome Saturday from 2:00 to 5:00 at the Hull Funeral Home on 60 Division St., Danbury, CT. Information and on line condolences at Hullfuneralservice.com. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Danbury High School Football team in c/o Nancy Golden 43 Clapboard Ridge Rd, Danbury, CT 06811 We love you Grampie and know you will be an angel to us all always guiding and showing us the way.
